King’s College London Summer Programme, the UK
CUI Can (BA-CMCT, Year 1)
My summer at King’s College London was an inspiring experience that expanded my understanding of media, culture, and global communication. Compared with the more structured learning environment in Hong Kong, KCL encouraged students to think independently, exchange ideas freely, and challenge different perspectives through engaging discussions.
During the “Media, Gender and Culture” programme, I explored the relationship between media, identity, and society while interacting with classmates from diverse backgrounds, including the US, France, Japan, and Brazil. Through these cross-cultural conversations, I gained new insights into different cultures and ways of thinking, while building meaningful friendships with people from around the world.
Beyond academics, I explored London’s museums, cultural landmarks, and local communities with my new friends. This unforgettable journey broadened my global perspective, strengthened my passion for media, and inspired me to use communication as a way to connect people and share meaningful stories.
Berkeley Summer Sessions, USA
XIE Junxian (BBA-PA, Year 2)
My six weeks at UC Berkeley this summer were truly unforgettable. The learning atmosphere was remarkably different from Hong Kong, which means classes were highly interactive and discussion-driven; professors encouraged us to speak up freely, and every perspective was valued. I took Fundamentals of Acting I and Introduction to the U.S. Legal System, which is an unusual combination that pushed me far beyond my comfort zone. On campus, I spent long hours in the libraries, explored the beautiful green grounds where professors and students often gathered to study together, and made friends with students from around the world. In my spare time, I explored San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Yosemite Park, and immersed myself in the vibrant local culture. Most importantly, I learned to embrace vulnerability, whether standing alone on stage performing a monologue or presenting legal arguments in class, and discovered that real growth happens when you step outside what feels safe. This summer didn’t just teach me new subjects; it taught me to be braver, more open, and more confident in my own voice.
Haaga-Helia Summer School, Finland
LUNG Tin Yan (BBA-HRM, Year 4)
I’m truly grateful to have participated in the AI in Business Summer School at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences (June 2026).
It was an intense but rewarding deep dive into generative AI, AI agents, machine learning, and real-world business applications – from Veikkaus and Moderna to AinoAid. Hands-on work with RAG, prompt engineering, and no-code agents gave me practical insights I’m excited to build on. A huge thank you to the lecturers (Juhani Heikkinen, Nino Ilveskero, and the team) for making complex topics accessible and applicable.
What made this even more special:
Returning to Finland – where I was an exchange student at JAMK University of Applied Sciences two years ago. Being back brought back so many good memories.
Between classes, we also enjoyed cultural activities – sauna by the lake, exploring Helsinki, and just soaking in the Finnish summer (rain and all ☔). That balance of learning and lifestyle is something I’ve always loved about this country.
2026 SEINAN Summer Japanese Programme, Japan
TSOI Yat Shun (BSocSc-AS, Year 3)
I have participated in the Japanese Summer programme at Seinan Gakuin University. In this programme, since I need to communicate with students from around the world, I can enhance my different language skills, especially Japanese, which is hard to practice in Hong Kong. It is a precious chance for me to learn Japanese culture in an immersive learning experience, including the culture and language. By living with the local students and learning in a Japanese environment, I can experience the university life of Japanese students. Therefore, I am precious to the memories from this summer programme at SGU.
UCL Summer Session 2026, the UK
HUANG Meilin (BBA-PA, Year 2)
My time studying at UCL was incredibly fulfilling and enjoyable. I made many close friends and gained invaluable knowledge. The professors truly valued students’ perspectives—we were encouraged to ask questions anytime and engage in deep discussions. The classroom atmosphere was vibrant, with students actively participating and plenty of interactive activities that helped reinforce our understanding.
As I was studying Mental Health and the Mind, we often took part in role-playing exercises simulating therapist–patient interactions, debates on nature versus nurture, and detailed case studies. Beyond academics, campus life was rich and varied—from English quiz competitions to organized trips like visiting Stonehenge. I also took the chance to watch The Phantom of the Opera, explore the British Museum and other cultural landmarks, which really broadened my horizons. All in all, it was a truly unforgettable experience
2026 Hanyang International Summer School, South Korea
LAU Tsz Ling (BBA-SCM, Year 2)
My exchange at Hanyang University was an unforgettable journey of learning and discovery. The study atmosphere was highly interactive, especially in my Korean Society and Culture class, where we engaged in group discussions after each lecture, allowing me to connect with people from around the world. It is a unique experience quite different from Hong Kong. Beyond academics, I explored Korea’s beauty, visiting landmarks like Seoul Tower, Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village. Facing language and cultural barriers, I discovered a resilience and adaptability I didn’t know I had, making this experience unforgettable.
