Student Sharing 2024/25

What Participants Say...

Harvard Summer School, the US

KONG Lok Yiu (BBA-GBM, Year 2)

My summer at Harvard was an extraordinary experience. In contrast to the reserved academic style in Asia, students here confidently challenged professors and engaged in discussions as if they were friends. Beyond lectures, my friends and I continued our conversations in the magnificent, century-old Widener Library. This dynamic atmosphere encouraged me to embrace new challenges, including an interdisciplinary course on the science of jewelry, which broadened my horizons dramatically.

My exploration extended beyond campus as I ventured with new friends across four states, from the vibrant energy of New York to the rugged coasts of Maine, making the entire experience truly unforgettable!

UC Berkeley Summer Sessions, the US

LAW Wing San (BMSIM, Year 4)

Compared to Hong Kong, UC Berkeley offered a vibrant environment where students felt free to express their opinions and engage in lively discussions during lectures. The emphasis here was not just on rote learning, but on understanding how to learn and developing critical thinking skills. Throughout the programme, I deepened my knowledge of artificial intelligence applications and enhanced my leadership and problem-solving abilities through engaging sessions with guest speakers from AI startups.

Beyond academics, I broadened my horizons by visiting history, art, and science museums, as well as enjoying a Broadway musical. These experiences allowed me to gain valuable exposure to Western culture, making my time at UC Berkeley both enriching and unforgettable.

University of Cambridge International Summer Programme, the UK

KO Tsun Ming (BBA-SCM, Year 4)

My time at Cambridge Summer School was truly fantastic. The teaching style was refreshingly open, creating a classroom atmosphere where everyone felt encouraged to share ideas—there were no right or wrong answers. What I enjoyed most was meeting a diverse group of people of all ages from around the world; everyone was eager to share their culture and expertise.

We explored the city’s iconic landmarks, from museums to punting on the river, which added to the richness of the experience. Each day was filled with new adventures and meaningful connections with different individuals. It truly is a gift to explore the world when you’re young, and this experience at Cambridge will stay with me forever.

University of Oxford – English and British Culture Programme of Hertford College, the UK

ZHONG Weiying (BA-PSY, Year 1)

This summer, I participated in a programme at Oxford University that greatly enhanced my personal and academic growth. The small class sizes allowed for ample direct interaction with instructors, significantly improving my oral skills. Outside of class, we engaged in activities like rowing, treasure hunting, and picnics, which offered a welcome break and fostered friendships among participants. Overall, I gained valuable knowledge and formed meaningful connections with people from around the world.

University of British Columbia Vancouver Summer Program, Canada

WANG Jinghan (BA-CMCT, Year 2)

The study atmosphere at UBC is more open and interactive than in Hong Kong, with professors emphasising communication over traditional lecturing. This approach fosters hands-on experiences that enrich our learning.

I often spent my lunch breaks picnicking on the lawn with classmates. Unlike Hong Kong, Vancouver’s abundant natural beauty and green spaces allowed us to enjoy meals outdoors, which was a refreshing change.

I enrolled in a course package titled “From Stage to Screen: How Vancouver ‘Plays’ to a Global Audience.” Through this programme, I gained not only a deeper understanding of Vancouver’s thriving film and theatre industry, but also an appreciation for the city’s rich cultural atmosphere and welcoming social environment.

During my free time, I embraced many new experiences. Activities such as shooting and watching the northern lights left a particularly strong impression on me, making my time in Vancouver truly unforgettable.

2025 Hanyang International Summer School, South Korea

CHEN Yanxi (BBA-MKT, Year 2)

Hanyang University boasts a large campus with a vibrant learning atmosphere. During the summer school, I made many new friends and participated in various activities, including the sports meeting and film festival organised by the university. Throughout the course, I mastered basic Korean words and grammar, ultimately passing the exam successfully. I can now communicate effectively with convenience store clerks. This experience not only enhanced my language skills but also allowed me to create lasting memories and friendships.
