Supporting the University’s strategic focus on establishing partnerships and platforms in Southeast Asia to create synergy and explore collaborative opportunities, the Global Affairs Office (GAO) conducted a trip to Bangkok from 25 to 27 October 2024 and reached out to various parties to further enhance HSUHK’s global competitiveness and impact.
The trip commenced with a courtesy visit on 25 October 2024 to Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII), who graced our campus in June 2024 following an earlier meeting at an international education expo in Perth in March 2024. During the visit to CSII, HSUHK’s Head of Global Affairs and the Global Affairs Manager were warmly greeted by Dr Pietro Borsano, Deputy Executive Director, Industrial and Global Alliances; and Mr Charlton Lim, Director of External Affairs, who apart from hosting an in-depth discussion on partnership, introduced the campus and learning facilities at CSII. The visit affirmed that both parties could move forward to a collaboration to enhance access to learning opportunities, align education with industry needs, and improve the overall quality of higher education in Thailand and Hong Kong. Upon the visit, the Global Affairs Office also connected with the Asian Institute of Technology and the Bangkok University as initiated by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok.
Another key activity of the trip is to participate in the 19th OCSC International Education Expo, the biggest international education event in Thailand. Being an exhibitor at the Expo held on 26 and 27 October 2024, GAO made full use of this platform, as attended by around 15,000 students/parents, and assisted in the University’s international students’ recruitment.
