The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong has been actively involved in activities relating to the development plan of the Greater Bay Area (GBA). In March last year, President Professor Simon S M Ho led a delegation to visit institutions in Guangzhou and other cities in the GBA for cooperation opportunities. Thereafter, HSUHK signed a cooperation agreement with Guangdong University of Finance and Economics (GDUFS) to cement academic collaboration between the two institutions and leverage respective strengths to nurture young talents.
On 19 March 2024, Mr Zheng Xiancao, the Party Secretary of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics visited HSUHK and met with Professor Y V Hui, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) and Dr Daniel Mo, Associate Dean of School of Decision Sciences. During the meeting, Professor Hui proposed engaging more academic schools in HSUHK to develop joint programmes and projects with GDUFS. Given that HSUHK and GDUFS had a solid partnership and shared the same education goal to nourish talent in the GBA, Secretary Zheng affirmed that new initiatives on different levels to deepen collaboration between the two universities were welcome.
Upon the discussion, Secretary Zheng also met with GDUFS students currently on exchange study with HSUHK and was introduced to HUSHK’s teaching facilities and learning environment.
