Guangzhou Study Tour – Exploring Lingnan Heritage and GBA Innovation

On 2 – 3 April 2026, the Global Affairs Office organised a two-day study tour to Guangzhou with the theme “Exploring Lingnan Heritage and GBA Innovation”, offering students an immersive experience in the Lingnan culture and innovation development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The study tour began at Designest Consulting. Students were engaged in case studies on design innovation to gain insights into brand incubation and industry upgrading models in the GBA. The group then visited Yangcheng Creative Industrial Park to explore digital cultural platforms and took part in a hands-on experience of Lingnan intangible cultural heritage craft – gold leaf painting, appreciating the enduring appeal of traditional craftsmanship.

On 3 April, students participated in a drone-themed learning programme at the Blue Bay Future Science and Technology Innovation Camp, where they applied artificial intelligence and robotics concepts through flight simulation and practical operations. The group subsequently visited Guangdong Medical Valley, a national incubator for biomedical and medical devices, to deepen their understanding of industry development in the life and health sciences sector. The study tour also included visits to the Nansha Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation Centre and Nansha IFC Sky Library, where students exchanged views with entrepreneurship mentors and learnt about youth start-up policies and opportunities in Nansha.

The study tour concluded with a sharing session at the HSUHK (Nansha) Centre. Students reflected on their learning experiences and further enhanced their understanding of industrial innovation and youth development in the GBA.
