GAO Strengthens Ties in ASEAN for Global Exchange

The Global Affairs Office (GAO) visited universities in two ASEAN countries in July 2025 to foster collaboration and enhance global exchange activities.

On 29 July 2025, the delegation was warmly greeted by the Office of Collaboration & Global Engagement at BINUS University (BINUS) in Indonesia, an exchange partner of HSUHK since 2022. During the visit, BINUS showcased its campus and student residences, offering the delegation an opportunity to gain a good understanding of its facilities. The team also had the chance to meet with a BINUS student who will be joining HSUHK for exchange study in the upcoming semester. The visit helps to deepen ties and further strengthen the partnership between the two institutions.

The delegation continued its journey on 30 July with a visit to Universiti Teknologi in Malaysia (UTM), marking a significant step toward establishing new partnerships in the region. With discussions on potential collaboration already underway, the visit included a meeting with its international office and a campus tour. The exchange of ideas and perspectives during the visit laid the groundwork for future collaborations.

Another highlight of the trip is participating in the Chong Hwa Independent High School Education Fair in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As an exhibitor at the fair, held on 31 July and 1 August 2025, GAO maximised this opportunity to support the University’s efforts in recruiting international students.

Through these activities, the GAO continues to build and strengthen relationships with universities in Indonesia and Malaysia, opening doors to diverse cultural and exchange opportunities.
