In order to enable Mainland students to adapt to life in Hong Kong and increase their integration with local students, Student Affairs Office launched the “Cantonese Learning Partner Programme” in November and recruited 11 local students to serve as “Cantonese Learning Partners” to teach Cantonese of daily life for their Mainland peers. The learning partners designed three themed learning sessions, including “basic conversation”, “transportation in Hong Kong”, and “food in Hong Kong”. While learning Cantonese, they shared Hong Kong’s culture and tradition with Mainland students, helping them gradually integrate into life in HSUHK. 80 mainland students participated in the programme and established friendships with local peer students during the teaching and learning process.
