The joyful laughter marked the success of the Guangzhou Study Tour, organised by the Global Affairs Office on 18–19 October, 2026. This tour offered students an opportunity to appreciate the rich traditional culture of Guangzhou while gaining insights into industrial innovation through conversations with professionals from different fields.
On the first day, students immersed themselves in traditional Cantonese culture. They made dim sum, sampled local cuisine, explored the architecture of the Cultural Heritage Block, experienced the art of pith painting, and admired the skyline alongside the Pearl River. These experiences also encouraged students to reflect on the preservation and inheritance of traditional culture.
The next day, students were impressed by advanced Embodied AI technologies during their visit to Cloudbutterfly. Representatives shared insights into the opportunities and challenges facing the industry, prompting students to consider its future development and possibilities. Mr Dickson Peng, founder of Warmup Bakery, not only brought along freshly baked artisan bread for the students to sample, but also shared practical career advice on pursuing opportunities in the Greater Bay Area during an engaging conversation.
Through combining cultural experiences with exposure to technological innovation and entrepreneurship, the study tour broadened students’ perspectives on learning and future career development.
