Professor Simon Ho, President, led a delegation to visit the Guangdong Vocational College of Hotel Management (GDVCHM) in Dongguan on 11 April 2025.

The delegation was hosted by Mr Ivan Chen, Executive Director of GDVCHM, at the Dongguan Sheraton Hotel, the training and teaching base of GDVCHM. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the latest developments in Dongguan and Hong Kong. In the afternoon, the delegation, accompanied by Professor Xu Gang, President of GDVCHM, toured the college campus,  designed by Academician He Jing-tang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Dean of the School of Architecture at South China University of Technology. They visited various teaching facilities, including the award-winning library for architectural design, health assessment training room, basic medical training room, Cantonese cuisine training room, flight attendant training room, and fire safety training room, while observing students in classes and training sessions.

With Mr Chen, President Xu, Vice-President Zhang Yourui (employment and industry-academic collaboration), and Vice-President Zeng Qi (teaching, research and continuing education), the delegation explored potential collaborations in areas such as articulation pathways, master’s degree programmes, and cooperation on joint programmes.

This visit has laid a solid foundation for future connections between the two institutions and has opened up further opportunities for collaboration.
