Visit by Shanghai University of International Business and Economics

Professor Wang Rongming, President of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) led a delegation to visit The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong on 14 October 2024. The delegation was warmly received by Professor Joshua Mok, Acting President cum Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) and Professor Jeanne Fu, Vice-President (Learning and Student Experience) and other senior management.  

During the meeting, Professor Mok highlighted the latest developments of HSUHK, including the establishment of the School of Transdisciplinary Studies and the School of Graduate Studies. He also introduced the University’s unique “Liberal + Professional” education model, which aims to nurture students’ global vision and humanistic qualities. In reciprocal, Professor Wang shed light on SUIBE’s updates and its education excellence, particularly in the cultivation of high-level, professionals, as well as decision-making consultation and research achievements in areas of international economy and trade. 

Regarding the deepening of collaboration between the two Universities, both parties will continue to pursue wider cooperation, particularly in scientific research, talent cultivation, social services and faculty exchange in the field of Statistics and Information Science as well as in Business Translation, to support the development and growth of higher education and to contribute to the country’s high-quality development. 

Founded in 1960, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics is crowned as the “cradle for professionals in foreign trade in China” and stands as the only university in the Yangtze River Delta region that focuses on the education of foreign trade and economics.  SUIBE has been a partner of HSUHK since 2012.
