Delegation Visits to the Singapore University of Social Sciences, Taylor’s University, and Universiti Utara Malaysia

In January 2025, the Global Affairs Office (GAO) led a series of delegation visits to the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), Taylor’s University (TU), and the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) to explore potential partnerships within the ASEAN region.

During the visit to SUSS on 13 January 2025, the HSUHK delegation was received by Professor Allan Chia, Deputy Provost, Professor Rebekah Lim, Deputy Dean of the College of Interdisciplinary & Experiential Learning, Ms Yeo Lay, Dean of Students of the Student Success Centre, and other members of the SUSS management. Following the presentation of Professor Jeanne Fu, Vice President (Learning and Student Experience) on recent updates and highlights from HSUHK, Dr Holly Chung, Head of the Honours Academy introduced the experiential learning journey at the Honours Academy of HSUHK; while Ms Yeo discussed students’ leadership development at the LEAD Academy of SUSS. This opened a dialogue on potential collaborations between the Honours Academy of HSUHK and the LEAD Academy. The visit concluded with a tour of the Experiential Urban Farm on its rooftop.

On 14 January 2025, the courtesy visit to TU began with a comprehensive campus tour guided by the Global Mobility & Industry Partnerships Office, showcasing the vibrant learning environment at its lakeside campus. At the meeting hosted by Ms Yong Yut Ho, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Administration, who visited HSUHK in November 2023, representatives from HSUHK and TU shared their insights on the trends and challenges of student exchange programmes, and discussed strategies to enhance their partnership established since 2015.

The visit to UUM on 15 January 2025 provided GAO with an overview of the University’s mission, history, and campus life. After touring the Sultanah Bahiyah Library, UUM Management Museum, U-Assist Information Centre, and various campus facilities, the meeting with Dr Azahar Kasim and Dr Saliza Abdul Aziz from the UUM Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation furthered the discussion on developing a student exchange partnership, initially held during the EAIE (European Association for International Education) Annual Conference and Expo in Rotterdam in September 2023.

Through discussions and campus tours, the Global Affairs Office explored collaborative opportunities that aspire to enhance students’ global learning experiences, opening avenues for future initiatives.
